MoMath, the National Museum of Mathematics, is an award-winning institution that showcases the importance of mathematics in revealing the patterns and structures around us. Its dynamic exhibits, galleries, and programs are designed to stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity, and unveil the wonders of mathematics for visitors of all ages, from 1 to 100. While masks are strongly encouraged, they are not required for entry and exploration of the museum.
Although the Long Island Goudreau Museum of Mathematics has closed, the MoMath offers a unique experience dedicated to the often-discussed but rarely seen subject of math. This museum serves as a playground for all ages, designed to engage both sides of the brain. Resembling a two-story tech fair, MoMath reveals how math influences our daily lives through nature, architecture, technology, and art without overwhelming visitors with complex formulas. Instead, it provides a sensory experience showcasing mathematical concepts in an intuitive and visually delightful manner. Visitors can explore exhibits such as bicycles with square wheels, interactive light and sound sculptures, and an immersive video set that transforms movements into dynamic fractal displays. Whether you want to delve into numeric functions, improve your Rubik’s cube skills, or simply play with lasers and calculating machines, MoMath turns the rational into fun.
